🧠 A question I’m being asked is ...

Following the discussion about Lasting Powers of Attorney on the Martin Lewis Money Show, a number of people have asked me:

“Do I only need an LPA when I’m older?”
The answer is no.

LPAs are actually most important while you are still fit and well, because they allow you to choose who can help manage things if something unexpected happens.

Without an LPA, even close family members may not be able to deal with things like:

• managing bank accounts
• paying bills
• speaking to doctors
• making care decisions

Many people also assume a joint bank account solves the problem, but this is not always the case. If someone loses mental capacity, banks can sometimes restrict accounts until proper authority is in place.

I’m really looking forward to visiting Ashurst Mews tomorrow, Friday 6th March, and spending time with residents, families, and carers.
