The European Parliament has given the green light to a number of driving rules, as laid out in this article:
https://www.gbnews.com/lifestyle/cars/digital-driving-licences-motoring-laws-europe-uk
What this means for UK drivers:
- Digital Driving licences will mean the amount of time for validity in licences will change: up to 15 years for cars/motorcycles
- There will be stricter rules for older drivers
- Greater emphasis on protecting vulnerable road-users (pedestrians, cyclists)
- Stronger sanctions for young or new drivers.
If you’re driving in or travelling through the UK/EU, you could soon need to carry a digital licence instead of (or alongside) the physical one.
