Seventeen year old Chloe Marriage from Newbury is preparing to take on the Land’s End to John o’ Groats cycle in July 2026, riding alongside her family in a 17 day challenge covering around 50 miles a day.

Born with cerebral palsy, Chloe was introduced to cycling through a specialist trike as part of her therapy. What began as rehabilitation quickly became freedom, confidence and joy, and she now rides a Hase Pino tandem with her dad Tom, supported by her mum Alex, her brothers Nicko and William, and Newbury Velo.

This story is in relation to one of our deputyship clients and reflects Chloe’s remarkable journey and determination, supported by her family and wider care network.

Alongside cycling, the family will be supported by a vehicle driven by her mum Alex, carrying essential equipment and managing accommodation throughout the route.

The family are raising funds for Treloar's’s and PALS West Berkshire, charities chosen by Chloe that have supported her journey, while also aiming to raise awareness of disability inclusion and adapted sport.

Chloe’s story is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved with the right support, determination and opportunity.

In the UK, cancer diagnoses continue to rise, with one person diagnosed every 80 seconds, over 403,000 cases each year.
Against this backdrop, pressure on NHS cancer services is intensifying.

The new National Cancer Plan for England sets out an ambitious 10-year vision to improve diagnosis, treatment and long-term care. Today, around 60% of people survive at least five years following a diagnosis. The aim is to increase this to 75% by 2035, helping to save an additional 320,000 lives.

With 1 in 2 people expected to face cancer at some point in their lifetime, delivering meaningful change across the system is more important than ever.

A delayed diagnosis of cauda equina syndrome (CES) can have devastating, life-changing consequences.

In this case, our client attended hospital with worsening back and leg pain, along with a new red flag symptom – perineal numbness. Despite this, she was discharged without urgent treatment.

By the time CES was finally diagnosed and surgery carried out, it was too late to prevent permanent injury. She was left with ongoing bowel and bladder dysfunction, mobility issues and chronic pain.

Our specialist team secured a £300,000 settlement to help fund vital home adaptations and support her independence.
