January can be tough. After the holidays, a lot of people start asking questions about separation, divorce, finances and what life might look like next.

Sometimes Christmas highlights things that were already there. Sometimes it’s just the quiet that brings thoughts to the surface.

If divorce or separation has been on your mind this January, you don’t need to rush or have it all worked out. A conversation can be the first step to feeling clearer.

If you’ve got questions, message us.
No judgement. No jargon. Just honest, plain-English advice. ⚖️

January has a reputation 🫣
because enquiries and searches for separation advice often rise after the holidays.
Statistically, some reports see roughly 25–30% more enquiries in January compared with other months, as people reflect and decide it’s time for change.

Whether you’re thinking about it or feeling pulled in that direction, you’re not alone and you don’t have to figure it all out in your head.

If you’ve got questions about separation, finances, kids or what comes next, drop us a message.

Merry Christmas from Little Bits of Law.

A big thank you to everyone who’s trusted us, asked questions, or quietly followed along this year.

Enjoy your day - we’ll be back breaking law into little bits soon. 🎄⚖️

Inheritance can be a bit of a head-scratcher in a divorce.
Some people think it’s automatically protected.
Others think it’s automatically split.
The truth? It depends.

It can be part of the financial picture, but it’s not as dramatic as it sounds.
Courts just look at the whole situation: what each person needs, what’s fair, and what makes sense overall.

If you’re sitting there thinking, “Does this apply to me?” or “I’m too scared to ask this out loud”… honestly, just message me.
No judgement, no jargon - just a clear answer so you can breathe a bit easier.

Last week we swapped laptops for plates and took a moment to sit round the table together 🤩
Good food, good company, and a chance to properly pause for five minutes.

It’s been a year of growth, graft, learning on the job and doing our best to show up for people when they need it - sometimes in tough moments, sometimes before they even happen.

Days like this are a good reminder that behind every email, call and bit of paperwork are real people doing their best work for other real people.

Grateful for the team, proud of how far we’ve come, and quietly excited about what’s still to come next year.

Now… back to the legal stuff. ⚖️

When you look at your family like this, legal paperwork is probably the last thing on your mind.
And honestly? Fair enough.

But a Will isn’t really about paperwork.
It’s about making life easier for the people you love if things ever went sideways.
Who steps in?
Who handles things calmly?
Who makes sure everyone’s looked after?

If you’ve never thought about it (or you keep putting it off) you’re not the only one.
Most people don’t know where to start, and that’s completely normal.

If you’ve got questions, or you just want someone to explain it without making your brain melt, message me.

We’ll go through it together, one little bit at a time. ⚖️💬

That end-of-year feeling is definitely starting to creep in… Christmas plans, to-do lists, and the countdown to a bit of a break.

But the reality is, life doesn’t pause just because it’s December.
Wills still need sorting.
Family situations still need untangling.
Questions still pop up when you least expect them.

So it’s business as usual here, helping people get clarity, calm and a plan in place, whether it’s before the festive rush or because something’s suddenly landed in your lap.

If you need legal advice at this time of year, you’re not late. You’re just being sensible.

Back to the laptop (and the coffee). ⚖️☕

Yes, my laptop… and yes, most days it’s me, a brew, and a lot of legal words.
But the real job isn’t the paperwork, it’s helping people feel a bit less stressed about the things they’ve been putting off for ages.

A Will finally sorted.
An LPA signed before life gets complicated.
Someone understanding their rights in a breakup instead of spiralling at 2am.

Those little moments where someone goes, “Oh… that actually makes sense now”?
That’s the bit I love.

If I can make the legal stuff feel human, simple and not completely overwhelming, then it’s been a good day behind this laptop. ⚖️

Yes, you can write your own Will.
Nothing in the law says you have to use a solicitor.

The real question is whether it’ll actually do what you need it to do.
Because one missing signature, one confusing clause or one “I thought that meant something else” can cause chaos later on and let’s be honest, nobody wants their family arguing over paperwork at 9pm on a Friday.

If you’ve got the time, confidence and willingness to research every line, you might be able to get it spot on.
If not… that’s where we come in.

We make Wills clear, calm and human - one little bit at a time so if you’re unsure where to start or you’ve half-written something and you’re now panicking, just send us a message.

⚖️ Let’s get it right together.

When there’s no Will, the law decides who gets what.

And spoiler - the law doesn’t know your people.
It doesn’t know who you actually love, who’s done the heavy lifting, or who’s been there when things got messy.

Dying without a Will (it’s called intestacy, if we’re being fancy) means zero control, and a lot of stress for the ones left behind.

A Will isn’t about money.
It’s about calm, care and choice and making sure the right people are looked after.

Save this if it’s on your to-do list, and follow for more law made human …. one little bit at a time.
