Today we recognise International Women’s Day and reflect on the progress made for women in the legal profession.

In 1919, the S*x Disqualification Removal Act changed the course of history by opening the legal profession to women for the first time. Just a few years later, in 1922, Carrie Morrison became the first woman admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales.

Since then, women have gone on to play vital roles across every part of the legal sector. From solicitors and advocates to legal assistants, administrators and leaders shaping the future of the profession.

Today we recognise and celebrate women in law, and women everywhere who work hard, lead with determination, and contribute across every role and every walk of life.

Waiting can cost more than just time.

Putting things off can have a real impact on the outcome of a claim. Evidence can be lost CCTV deleted records harder to obtain and memories fade. All of this can weaken a case and in some situations reduce the level of compensation available.

Delays can also raise questions around injuries treatment and reporting which may affect how a claim is valued. There are also strict time limits and waiting too long can mean losing the right to claim altogether.

Getting advice early does not mean you have to proceed straight away. It simply protects your position keeps options open and puts you in the strongest possible place financially if you do decide to move forward.

Most people assume legal cases mean courtrooms and long drawn out battles.
The reality is very different.

Around 90% of civil claims are resolved before court through mediation and alternative dispute resolution. The system is designed to settle matters early wherever possible.

Court is a last resort. It only happens when liability is denied and responsibility has to be decided by a judge.

Would knowing your case is likely to settle without court make you feel more confident about taking that first step?

When real life is stranger than fiction 🦽

People often assume personal injury cases are always straightforward. The reality is very different.

Some incidents are unusual, unexpected and genuinely shocking. What matters in every case is not how rare it is, but whether someone was let down when safety should have come first.
That is why careful investigation, experience and compassion matter. Every story deserves to be properly heard and properly handled.

One of the biggest misconceptions in injury and negligence claims?

You are not compensated for inconvenience.
Compensation is based on pain suffering and loss of amenity.
How the injury affected your life.

our ability to work πŸ’Ό
The care you needed πŸ₯
The income you lost πŸ’·
The support others gave up to help you 🀝

Not the frustration of the process ❌
Not the fact it should never have happened 🚫

Did you know that before today?

What are your thoughts on the so called claims culture debate?

It’s an easy label to apply but the reality is far more balanced.

Most people do not want to pursue claims against the NHS or medical professionals. They want answers accountability and reassurance that mistakes are acknowledged. Healthcare professionals are human not robots and in a pressured system errors can and do occur.

When genuine harm has been caused seeking advice is not about blame or opportunism. It is about fairness responsibility and making sure the impact on a patient’s life is properly addressed.
