Today we recognise International Womenβs Day and reflect on the progress made for women in the legal profession.
In 1919, the S*x Disqualification Removal Act changed the course of history by opening the legal profession to women for the first time. Just a few years later, in 1922, Carrie Morrison became the first woman admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales.
Since then, women have gone on to play vital roles across every part of the legal sector. From solicitors and advocates to legal assistants, administrators and leaders shaping the future of the profession.
Today we recognise and celebrate women in law, and women everywhere who work hard, lead with determination, and contribute across every role and every walk of life.
