This year Gard & Co are looking to collect as many Food Bank donations as possible to assist Plymouth Foodbank in their busiest time of the year.

We understand how difficult this time of year can be for many and with the current circumstances we understand that this Christmas may be even harder.

That’s why we want to help as much as possible and we hope that you can all get involved too!

For the first 12 working days of December we are asking anyone who can help to bring a Food Bank donation to our offices in Plymouth City Centre. We have a collection box in our reception and at the end of the 12 days we will make a trip to Plymouth Food Bank to deliver everything we have collected.

If you have can help, please drop off the following items to us on each day...

(any donations big or small will be greatly appreciated and the list below is simply a suggestion, please feel free to donate whatever you have)

Gard & Co. had a strong contingent and made a major contribution to the organisation of the twice postponed Mayflower 400 Lecture, held on 3rd November 2022 at Plymouth University.

This year’s lecture, organised by the Plymouth Law Society and hosted by the University of Plymouth and Plymouth City Council, was presented by The Rt Hon the Baroness Hale of Richmond DBE. It was entitled: The Pros and Cons of a Written Constitution and can be viewed on YouTube via the link below:

Gard & Co. had a strong contingent at the twice postponed Mayflower 400 Lecture, held last night at Plymouth University.

The Rt Hon the Baroness Hale of Richmond DBE (centre of picture) is the latest in a long list of distinguished members of the legal profession to present the lecture, which began with the Pilgrim Fathers Lecture, delivered by Lord Bingham, in 1994. The Lecture, which by tradition embodies themes of freedom and human rights, commemorates the voyage of the Mayflower in 1620, which is described by some as one of the most influential journeys in global history and as a defining moment in the relationship between Britain, the USA and the Netherlands.

This year's lecture, organised by the Plymouth Law Society and hosted by the University of Plymouth and Plymouth City Council, was entitled: The Pros and Cons of a Written Constitution.

Just announced the government is reforming stamp duty land tax by doubling the level at which people begin paying this from £125,000 to £250,000.

The level first-time buyers start paying stamp duty has increased from £300,000 to £425,000.

First-time buyers can access the relief when they buy a property costing less than £625,000 rather than the previous £500,000.

On International Dog Day it is a good time to think of all the dogs that need to be rescued especially with recent reports of rescue shelters being inundated with animals at the moment

There are many fun suggestions to celebrate Dog Day and we certainly have a mix of pet dogs belonging to staff and maybe even enough to make a charity dog calendar!

Here are a few of our pooches:
