Whats the point in going to mediation with an ex that you find controlling?

To get some insight into what it is that they really want from you.
To get some information that will help you develop a workable strategy.

To understand what they are trying to achieve and what their main motivations are.

Being with a neutral 3rd party it’s likely your ex will be at their best. This will give you a platform to help you both explore different options towards finding a workable solution for the children and any finances.

Mediation can still be successful with someone who you find controlling- it’s might not easy- but things worth doing rarely are!

Family Mediation. The first step to sorting out child arrangments.

Are you having difficulties reaching agreement about the amount of time that you each spend with your child/children? Or are you currently going through a divorce and are unable to sort financial issues such as property, assets, debts?

Then mediation can help you. Family mediation is a way of resolving disputes which arise before, during or after separation or divorce. It can also be helpful to avoid problems arising.

Mediation is a voluntary and confidential process which gives each parent a chance to discuss their issues, hopes, concerns and needs to each other in the presence of a qualified family mediator.
