A health and welfare LPA gives your attorney the power to make decisions about your daily routine (washing, dressing, eating), medical care, moving into a care home and life-sustaining medical treatment. It can only be used if you're unable to make your own decisions.

Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA)
A legal document that enables an individual (the donor) to appoint one or more people (attorneys) to make decisions on their behalf in respect of either their property and financial affairs or health and welfare. The attorneys’ powers under a registered LPA continue after the incapacity of the donor.
