Why should I appoint a guardian for my children in my Will and Testament? is a question I am often asked. Several reasons:

1. If you want to be sure that someone you trust will look after your children if you die, you need to decide who that should be by appointing a guardian in your will.

2. If you don’t appoint a guardian, the courts will decide who will look after your children in the event of your death. It is not guaranteed that this will be the person/people you would have chosen, so it is far better to make that decision yourself.

3. Your children could also be taken into care temporarily if you die and you have not appointed a guardian.

I don’t normally talk about business matters on Facebook as I usually find most of the views are from friends and family.

But then I thought again a lot of my friends and family are business owners so let me ask you a question:

Did you know that you can have a LPA for your business?

Imagine this: you are at work, working hard perhaps a small support team around you and you are suddenly, unable to work. What happens? who pays the invoices and the wages? who communicates with your suppliers and clients? how long are you out for? does your SM need shutting down?

So many questions! if you have all the answers but no one has designated authority to carry out YOUR wishes for YOUR business, everything you have worked for can suddenly grind to a halt and not in a good way.

This might make you uncomfortable but let me ask you a question.
