Study by Ministry of Justice has shown that almost all Litigants in person had difficulties with the court proceedings, legal issues involved and almost half had some form of personal vulnerability in some form which add to the difficulty of the legal process.

Under Article 6 of European Convention of Human Right individual right to fair trial is protected whether you are legally represented or you are litigant in person (LiP) and courts are under obligation to take positive steps to ensure your right under article 6 is protected.

Therefore when you represent yourself you can exercise your own right to audience (i.e. addressing the court without having a lawyer speak for you) and court may assist you to clarify your case.
