Monday Myth Buster!

“If there’s no will, everything automatically goes to the wife/husband.”

Nope - not always!

In England and Wales, if someone dies without a will (intestate):

• Married / civil partner + no children → spouse usually inherits everything.

• Married / civil partner + children → spouse gets personal possessions, the first £322,000, and half of the remaining estate; children share the other half.

• Unmarried partners do not automatically inherit, even after decades together!

A Will is so important to ensure your wishes are followed - why leave it to chance?
