Hi everyone - please can I ask you to share this post. There is a leaflet that’s been circulating in the Wollaton area about a free seminar at the Belfry Hotel Nottingam which is taking place tomorrow at 2pm. The leaflet looks poorly done, scaremongering about tax and care home fees.

There have been various companies that did these similar seminars - saying they were free but then going in for the hard sell of family trusts that were often miss-sold (not correctly explained) and ended in disaster for the families impacted. I’ve tried to bring this to the attention of Trading Standards without success and local councillor for Wollaton Steve Battlemuch has not managed to get through to them either.

The concern is that vulnerable and often elderly people may be miss-sold trusts by a company that isn’t regulated to provide legal services such as trust work. The trusts and other work are often then sold for an exorbitant fee (thousands normally) and/or with a referral fee at the very least for the company doing the ‘free seminar.’

The website for inheritance preservation states they are not providing financial advice but doesn’t say they are able to provide advice about trusts - as they are not authorised by the legal services act 2007- so they cannot legally prepare the trusts and therefore in my opinion should not be advising about them. Just looks very dodgy to me.
