What is the most unusual item you have been left in a Will?

An axe, a stuffed snake and a tortoise are not the weirdest things people have been left in Wills, reveals a new research study of 2,000 UK residents conducted by independent market research firm Danebury Research on behalf of legal technology company, Estate Search.

The survey, designed to find out more about estate planning, found people had inherited various quirky items from a horse, to a bed, to a Victorian trumpet. However, the weirdest items included: one sock and one shoe, my father’s spade and “my granny’s false teeth”!

With families of 2nd or 3rd marriages, exclusions are not uncommon but still most recommended that a well written Letter of Wishes is done, clearly stating the reasons for exclusion, especially if the Will is contested in court. Feel free to contact me us if you wish to discuss.

While it is an ugly truth, sometimes there are members of a family that have earned a place on a list of people to exclude from their Will.
