Should You Pay Your Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) Attorney?

It’s a common question with an important answer:

Payment/Compensation: Attorneys are generally not required to be paid, but you can choose to compensate them for their time and significant responsibility. This must be clearly stated in the LPA document, and you can even set different pay rates for multiple Attorneys.

Expenses: Regardless of compensation, attorneys are typically permitted to reclaim reasonable out-of-pocket expenses (such as travel costs, postage, etc.) incurred while managing your affairs.

Deciding on payment and expenses now helps avoid confusion and financial strain for the people you trust most later on.
