The safety of maternity services in England has been under intense scrutiny in recent years. A series of high-profile investigations has exposed recurring failures in NHS maternity care, prompting calls for meaningful reform and renewed debates centred around accountability and systematic failures within the healthcare system.

Former Made In Chelsea star and author Louise Thompson has teamed up with Theodora Clarke MP to lead a national campaign for the appointment of a dedicated Maternity Commissioner. At the time of writing, the Petition (which closes on 7 July 2026) currently has more than 150,000 signatures. The Petition follows recommendations made in the 2024 Birth Trauma Inquiry Report.

Polly Langford & Imogen Fraser, both of the LP Clinical Negligence Team, have written on the petition, what the appointment of a Maternity Commissioner would mean, and how maternity claims continue to account for a substantial proportion of the NHSโ€™ negligence liabilities.

This will typically involve either selling the shares in the company or selling the trade and assets of the business operated by the company. Green Pebble is a publisher of fine art greeting cards based in East Anglia, publishing original works of art produced by talented British artists through high-quality greeting cards, note cards, and stationery products.

Blue Knot, which owns Norwich printing and fulfilment firm Page Bros, is well-positioned and aligned with the values of Green Pebble to take the business from strength to strength. While several updates under the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 came into force on 5 February 2026, the next key development for organisations is still to come. From 19 June 2026, organisations will be legally required to implement a formal complaint handling process for data protection matters.
