The sorts of questions that may be useful to ask are:
The lack of detail on cuts in the committee papers on where the cuts will fall
Ask which services are currently not meeting the statutory/legal duties and how will taking an additional £50m out of the budget improve this situation
Ask how long the waiting times for SEND assessments are in children;s services
How many Disabled adults are waiting for assessments/or waiting for services once assessed, and how many have died on these waiting lists?
How many people in hospitals across Norfolk are medically fit but can’t leave hospital because of a lack of community social care options?
Which services will close/be reduced as a result of cuts and what are the impacts?
How can they do any equality impact assessments when there is so little detail?
Bill Borret mentioned that even with a 10% increase in payments to care providers this may not be enough to keep them in the market and attract new providers so asking what will happen if providers pull out en masse is an option.
Is there scope to bring services back in-house so as to avoid the risk of service providers closing?
