VIDEO IN COMMENTS….

This is what happens when you let someone loose on a drainage & Plumbing system who hasn’t got a clue what they’re doing.

We were called out to a commercial property after a tenant on the 6th floor found their kitchen becoming part of the roof drainage system every time it rained.

Someone had connected the kitchen sink waste directly into a rainwater downpipe taking the roof water from two large blocks of flats. Obviously, the two should never have been connected.

The rainwater system blocked and all that water coming off the roof had nowhere to go. Unfortunately it found somewhere, straight back through the kitchen sink.

The result was multiple floors affected by flooding and a fair amount of damage which I suspect won’t be cheap to put right.

Our 24/7 reactive team attended, accessed the roof using the installed Mansafe equipment and cleared the blockage to stop any further flooding. We then diverted the sink waste into the foul drainage where it should have been in the first place and sealed the hole in the rainwater downpipe.

The rainwater pipe is now back to doing the one job it was designed for, taking rainwater from the roof rather than filling someone’s kitchen and going through floors below.

Sometimes it really is better to leave things to the professionals. You wouldn’t see us having a go at open heart surgery because we’d watched someone else do it once on YouTube.

After being welcomed into the eCapital Corp. Birmingham, our Cow has confidently predicted an England win tonight.

It’s got the ears.
It’s got the dress…
It’s got absolutely no football credentials whatsoever…. BUT it knows drains &…

Confidence is high.

If England win, We’ll take full credit.

If they don’t, we’ll be investigating whether it’s secretly Scottish and ringing our Relationship Manager & Credit Controller’s for further advice.

If England lose, we’ll have no choice but to distribute even more NDL Cows across the country to boost our luck for the next game… (The next batch are already on the way… maybe to your office )

NDL Team attended a newly completed plot Friday , following reports of a leaking SVP (Soil Vent Pipe). Using CCTV from the loft area of the property downstream. we were able to accurately identify the leak location without any unnecessary disruption.

Rather than ripping out a brand-new kitchen and opening up walls to access the stack, we proposed a targeted trenchless solution. A localised liner repair was installed directly at the defect on Saturday , eliminating the need for costly and invasive remedial works.

Following installation, a water test was carried out to verify the repair, confirming the stack was watertight and no longer leaking over 15 minutes.

Trenchless repairs aren’t always the right solution, but in situations like this where a property is completed, finished, and ready for handover they can provide a fast, cost-effective, and minimally disruptive alternative to traditional excavation and building works.

Our team carried out pre-topping CCTV surveys of the site gullies, laterals and mains drainage ahead of surfacing works for the Nick Danea Nicu & Roads & Sewers Team 4 at M&J.

A total of 77 sections of drainage surveyed, with only one known defect identified an open joint where drainage had previously been capped off by site that they already knew about.

Collapsed sewer about 3m deep on private land. Not your usual domestic job.
Took a fair bit of planning with:
Property management Company
Insurance
Highways (road space & TM)
Temporary works engineer
Because of the depth and how close it was to buildings and boundary walls, we changed the plan and went with a safer diversion, still digging down to around 2.2m.
Works included:
Deep excavation with trench support
Temporary works
Sewer diversion & reinstatement
Muck away in a tight access
Removal and Rebuild of walls
Full TM and site safety
All done safely and to a High Standard
And of course… Standard job behaviour when you've got road space booked someone parked smack bang in the middle of our licensed work area, despite weeks of signage.

(The car was released from jail once the owner was located by Highways for us)
