Maintenance teams — check your spares.
We’re seeing the same pattern everywhere: assets sitting in storage for years, untouched, unprotected, and assumed to be “ready.” Then an accident happens, a part is suddenly needed, and that “ready” spare turns out to be corroded, contaminated, or obsolete.
Lasers aren’t just for cleaning — they’re for recovery, preservation, and verification of the part and part numbers.
Part numbers become difficult to find after years of wire brushing and grinding. Lasers offer an alternative as the parent material is not touched and waste or corrosion evaporated off.
If you find damage, ISR can restore your assets and put a preservation plan in place so they’re operational when it counts.
Your spares aren’t valuable unless they’re usable. Start with a recovery review or request a laser restoration assessment.

26 – 24 Renault Williams Clio Restoration
ISR was recently invited to demonstrate the effectiveness of laser cleaning during the real‑time restoration of a Renault Williams Clio. The results were nothing short of remarkable.
As components were removed, they were immediately cleaned to factory‑level precision. While fitters continued disassembly, the chassis was laser‑treated—rust marks lifted instantly, and worn coatings were taken back to primer in a single pass. Even bolt heads and Allen key sockets were restored to original spec, allowing effortless removal without damage.
This collaboration showcased how restoration work can be completed in‑house, without the dust, media contamination, or long‑term issues associated with traditional blasting methods. ISR is now looking to partner with restoration teams and industrial operations who want to accelerate turnaround times, reduce outsourcing, and gain a competitive edge with on‑site laser capability.

26–23: Understanding Stainless-Steel Contamination During Forming

When stainless steel is formed using a mild‑steel press, the tooling can transfer microscopic carbon‑steel particles onto the stainless surface. Over time, these embedded particles oxidise — creating rust spots that appear to come from the stainless itself.

In the example shown, corrosion is concentrated along the folds, confirming that the press tooling was the source of contamination. This issue is especially common in the manufacture of urinals and other heavy‑gauge stainless products.

If your organisation is experiencing unexpected rusting on stainless components after delivery to site, we’d be pleased to discuss the problem and support you in finding a long‑term solution.

Oil on the drive or rust on the patio?
As the weather improves, it’s the perfect time to check the kerb appeal of your property. Oil marks and rust stains build up slowly, but they make a big impact on how your home looks. In addition to black marks from gutters and drain pipes.

ISR has long specialised in industrial stain removal, and we’ve now developed the same high‑performance process for domestic and civil engineering use. Quick turnaround, no harsh chemicals, and results that last.

Protect your property. Improve its appearance. Remove the stains that drag the look of your prop

erty down and its value?

Clean, Confident, and Professional

This week we returned to the BMW bike engine we laser‑cleaned just seven days ago — and the results blew us away. The owner took our work even further with a bit of polish and elbow grease, and the transformation speaks for itself.

If you're a dealer or working on a restoration project, stop wasting days scrubbing and scraping. Laser cleaning removes hours — even weeks — of contamination in a fraction of the time. This engine and gearbox took just one hour once we were set up. So next time you have knuckle rash and you get the soap in it making you wince after a day of cleaning. Remember I told you so. LOL

Why spend your free time getting knuckle rash when you could be out riding or working on the parts you actually enjoy?

ISR was recently invited to clean a BMW motorbike engine, a job most people dread because the engine stays in place and the surfaces are anything but uniform. Tight spaces, awkward angles, and delicate profiles normally make this a nightmare.

This project really showed what modern laser cleaning can do. The laser reached areas that traditional tools simply can’t, and the final result speaks for itself. What used to be a difficult, time‑consuming task is now just another job made easier with the right technology.

Should you have a show during the summer or a club night we are open to working with you. We also work on farm machinery and during shutdowns in industry as we transfer this technology through both mechanical and civil engineering. Within civil engineering we operate in houses stately homes and castles cleaning stone fireplaces floors and outside wall.

When talking to us by please reference the number top right in clip you are referring then we can align with you immediately.

⚙️ Option 3: Technical, Expert‑Focused
BMW Motorbike Engine — Complex Geometry, Zero Problem

ISR recently completed a laser clean on a BMW motorbike engine without removing it from the frame. Traditionally, this job is a nightmare: inconsistent surfaces, fine details, and profile changes that make access nearly impossible.

Laser cleaning proved its versatility once again. It reached deep, intricate areas that other tools can’t touch, delivering a clean, uniform finish.
This is what happens when advanced tooling meets real‑world engineering challenges — past problem jobs become simple, efficient, and repeatable.

This week at ISR, we’ve been carrying out trials for property developers—focused on adding value in an efficient and cost-effective way.
The first property shown here highlights the impact of removing years of roadside pollution, as well as built-up contaminants commonly found in garages and parking areas in the form of exhaust residue and oil stains.
During the process, it became clear we weren’t just cleaning—we were bringing properties from the past into the future, removing the visible scars of age and restoring their true appearance. Much like the upgrades developers make with modern kitchens and bathrooms, this is a transformation that adds real, tangible value.
Why laser cleaning?
Unlike traditional methods, laser technology is completely non-contact. That means:
• No damage to brickwork or mortar
• No unnecessary wear or material loss
• No added costs from follow-up repairs like regrouting (often required after pressure washing)
The result is a cleaner, sharper finished property achieved with precision, care, and efficiency bringing real added value to the asset. On completion it was decided enhancing the outside appearance was an invite to look inside, and as one developer said, “if the outsides not got that kerb appeal, they are not going in. So many times, he had clients who had passed and never came as property had no kerb appeal or attraction which was something the buyer would need to add.

ISR showcasing just how effective laser cleaning can be on delicate components. Here you can see a very thin cab roof being cleaned with no heat transfer to the parent material. The exposed steel highlights years of corrosion caused by ponding water, yet the laser handled it with ease. In fact, when complete the roofs thin steel had tightened.
Access through the floor panel also allowed ISR to work under the dashboard, making light work of areas that would normally be a nightmare to reach. Also, the gutter was cleaned to full depth without the usual knuckle rash you’d expect from traditional methods.
The precision and control of laser cleaning really shine in jobs like this.

🔧 Bank Holiday Breakdown? Not for ISR. 🔧

Here’s ISR in action recovering a seized bonnet catch — a simple job, done in seconds.

It’s a perfect example of how engineering challenges should be approached. Too often, seized components and failures are worked around with temporary fixes — oiling, manual force, lost time. But with laser technology, the right solution is faster, cleaner, and far more effective. In addition to the accidents caused swinging hammers.

💡 Laser isn’t just advanced — it’s underused.

Engineering companies should be asking:

Where could laser recovery save hours of downtime?
How many “simple” jobs are delayed by seized parts or damaged threads?
What’s the cost of not using the right tool?

From mill roll recovery to stud-filled threads that turn minutes into hours, laser technology transforms how problems are solved.

⚡ This bonnet catch? Seconds to resolve.
⏱️ Without laser? A drawn-out, inefficient workaround.

This Bank Holiday, remember — smart engineering isn’t about working harder, it’s about working smarter.

👉 Time to rethink recovery. Time to use laser. Then its time to talk to ISR for a trial? Or are you going to do a work round which becomes the norm.

Think outside the box. Think ISR
