Over the past few years, I’ve been working alongside Greencube Storage as the site has developed and grown.

From early maps and models, right through to planning future layouts, it’s always been about understanding the site properly at each stage.

Back in February, we introduced something new, 360° aerial captures from fixed positions across the yard.
I’ll be heading back up next week to repeat those same positions, building a consistent view of how the site is progressing over time.

This isn’t about marketing shots. It’s about clarity.

Even with full CCTV coverage, having that aerial perspective gives a completely different way of seeing things, making it easier to:

- Plan future container layout
- Stay on top of maintenance
- Organise storage areas
- Prioritise what actually needs doing next

It’s a simple process, but one that makes a real difference when a site is constantly moving and changing.

This is the kind of work I enjoy most, not just capturing a site once, but supporting it as it grows.

📸 Commercial Roof Inspection carried out in Newport City Centre back in December.

The property had multiple roof sections and internal courtyards that needed checking as part of a condition survey.

Five roof areas were inspected in total. Using a drone meant the surveyor could get clear views of the roofs without scaffolding, cherry pickers, or anyone needing to climb up there.

High-resolution imagery was captured for evidence and organised by roof section to make review easier for the surveyor.

Drone inspections like this can often be carried out for a fraction of the cost of access equipment while still providing the evidence needed for a professional assessment.

A few stills from this one 📸🎄

I shared a short video earlier of the Christmas display just off Corporation Road, but some of the details really deserved to be shown as individual images too - especially once the lights were fully on.

If you haven’t seen the video yet, it’s in the previous post and gives a good overview of the whole setup.

The house is lit for anyone who wants to pop by, take photos, or just enjoy it for a few minutes. Any donations go directly to Sparkle, a Gwent-based charity supporting children and young people with disabilities and/or developmental difficulties.

Back at it with a local media project 🎄

This lovely home just off Corporation Road has been dressed head-to-toe in Christmas decorations for the community to enjoy. The homeowners have set it up so people can come along, take photos, and soak up some festive spirit - there’s even a letterbox for Santa if little ones want to post their lists.

If you do visit, donations are welcomed and hugely appreciated, with all proceeds going directly to Sparkle , a Gwent-based charity supporting children and young people with disabilities and/or developmental difficulties.

I had the pleasure of capturing this display using a drone, helping showcase the scale of the setup and the effort that’s gone into it.

A Different Kind of Clarity 👀

Not every business needs a full topographical survey.
Sometimes, what they really need is clarity before commitment.

A returning client asked me to assess a potential new yard — layout, access, and space planning — all before they sign the lease.

Using drone mapping and 3D modelling, I created:
✅ A scaled aerial overview of the site
✅ Digital surface and terrain visuals
✅ A container layout plan showing how the space could work in reality
✅ Observations on surface condition, access flow, and infrastructure potential

This isn’t survey-grade data — and that’s the point.
It’s a fast, affordable, visual alternative for micro and small businesses who want to understand potential before spending thousands on surveyors, solicitors, and formal assessments.

The result? A clear, confident decision path at around 70–80% lower cost than traditional early-stage methods.

Drone mapping isn’t replacing surveyors — it’s empowering businesses to move forward with insight.

🛰️ Limestone Quarry – 3D Model Flythrough 🎥

This 3D model was captured and processed entirely in-house as part of my ongoing work to showcase complex terrain through aerial data and visual storytelling.

📐 Based on rough estimations, it’s believed that over 500,000 cubic metres of material were extracted from this site during its operational period in the 1980s — a staggering footprint carved into the South Wales landscape.

🎥 This flythrough showcases a visual reconstruction of the site using drone imagery — helping to highlight scale, form, and historic impact from a unique perspective.

📊 Models like this can support decision-making, provide visual clarity, and complement traditional ground-based methods.
