The rules on harassment at work changed on 1st October, and one part of it has surprised a lot of employers.
Businesses can now be held responsible for harassment of their staff by customers, clients and contractors, not just by colleagues.
And just reacting to incidents is no longer going to be enough.
Which raises an awkward question. What do you do when the person behaving badly is your best customer?

Their answer was short: you have to protect your team. And you have to be able to prove it.
We have written up the full session, including what "all reasonable steps" actually means, five questions to check whether your business is exposed, and what to do in the first 24 hours after a complaint.
