No rent review clause. No clarity on repairs. No answer on what happens if the property's damaged. It all gets sorted out eventually — just not on your terms, and usually at the worst possible time.

The Renters' Rights Act brought the biggest change to private renting in decades. Old-style agreements, familiar notices, standard clauses — much of it has moved on. Paperwork that worked perfectly well last year may not hold up today.

From Tuesday 15th September to Saturday 19th September 2026, Stephen will walk a 35km section of the Wall. Five days, back to back, across steep and uneven centuries-old steps.

On some stretches, a single kilometre takes an hour.

EVERY PENNY GOES TO St John's Hospice

Stephen has paid for the cost of the trip himself.

So every pound donated goes straight to St John's Hospice. Not a penny is taken for travel or expenses.

WHY ST JOHN'S

St John's Hospice cares for people with life-limiting conditions across North Lancashire, South Lakes and parts of North Yorkshire. An in-patient ward. Hospice at home. Clinical nurse specialists. Bereavement support for families afterwards.

Free of charge. Funded by the community it serves.

This year marks 40 years since St John's opened its doors — and the tenth year of hospice treks, returning to where the very first one began.

Congratulations to the brilliant Bolton-le-Sands C of E Primary School cricket team!

We were delighted to see the boys claim victory in the BLA SSCO Dynamos Cricket Tournament, following four excellent performances against Poulton-le-Sands, Heysham St Peter’s Primary School, Lancaster Road and West End Primary School.

The team were organised, supportive and worked exceptionally well together throughout the tournament — a thoroughly deserved result.
