I hear this all the time.

Couples assume everything will automatically pass to the other person — and sometimes, yes, it does!

But what people don’t realise is:

• That only works in very specific circumstances

• It doesn’t protect your share long term

• And it definitely doesn’t cover things like remarriage, care fees, or family fallouts

I’ve seen situations where:

• Children unintentionally lose out

• Assets end up somewhere completely different to what was intended

• Families are left dealing with stress that could have been avoided

A simple conversation and the right structure (not just “a Will”) can change all of that 📄✨

If you’ve ever said “we’re fine”… it’s probably worth a quick sense check 💬

My inbox is always open if you want to talk things through - no pressure, just clarity.

Helping families navigate the “not so straightforward” situations is exactly why I do what I do 💛

Blended families, changing circumstances, and difficult conversations around capacity can feel overwhelming but having the right plan in place makes all the difference.

It’s always about taking the time to explain things properly, making sure everyone feels comfortable and putting something in place that truly works for your family both now and in the future.

If you’re unsure where to start with your Will or Lasting Powers of Attorney, my inbox is always open 📩

Most people think having a Will avoids probate… it doesn’t.

A Will tells everyone what should happen -
probate is the process of making it legally happen.

Whether probate is needed depends on:

• What assets you own
• How they’re held

📩 Message me “PROBATE” if you’re unsure what would happen in your situation

Grateful for kind words like this 🤍

Supporting clients through what can be a really difficult and emotional time is something I never take for granted. Knowing that it’s made a difference means everything.

✨ I’m now on ReviewSolicitors ✨

A big part of what I do is built on trust, relationships and helping people feel confident about really important decisions — whether that’s putting a Will in place, dealing with Probate or setting up Powers of Attorney.

That’s why reviews mean so much 💛

They not only help me as a small business, but they also help others who might be feeling unsure about where to start or who to speak to.

If I’ve worked with you before, I’d be incredibly grateful if you could take a couple of minutes to leave a review via the link in my bio - it genuinely makes such a difference.

Thank you so much for your support, always 🤍

⚖️ I step forward for women in law.

Last week at the All BrightStep Forward Summit, we were asked to finish the sentence:

“I step forward for…”

My answer was simple: women in law.

Today, on International Women’s Day, it feels particularly fitting. The UN theme this year focuses on rights, equality and empowerment for women and girls 🌍

And the legal profession sits right at the heart of that conversation.

The law is one of the most powerful tools we have to deliver justice, protection and fairness, yet the journey for women in the profession has not always been straightforward.

When I qualified as a solicitor, I was navigating postgraduate study, professional exams, a long commute and raising two young children and running a home. Like many women in professional careers, it required resilience, determination and a strong support system.

The legal world has changed enormously for the better, but there is still work to do to ensure women have equal opportunities to lead, progress and shape the profession I love.

I’m proud to work in an area of law that often supports families through some of life’s most difficult moments, helping people create clarity, protection and fairness for the people they care about most.

And perhaps most importantly, as a mum of three boys 👦👦👦, I’m conscious every day that the example we set matters.

The way we show up.
The way we treat people.
And the respect we expect in return.

Because raising boys who grow up respecting strong women is just as important as supporting the women themselves.

So today I’m proud to say:

I step forward for women in law.

And for the next generation learning exactly what equality, respect and opportunity should look like. 💜

Yes, there are hours of focused work, research, and drafting at my desk 💻 but it also looks like time outdoors with my horses, learning to ski and spending time with my husband and three sons.

That balance is possible because I work differently to many traditional lawyers. As a self-employed consultant, I don’t have billing targets, chargeable hours quotas, or set office hours. This gives me the freedom to:

• dedicate the right amount of time to each client, rather than being driven by time recording 📑

• create a healthier work–life balance, which means I show up more focused, positive, and engaged both at work and at home 🌿

For me, success in law isn’t measured in units of time, but in the quality of service, trust and relationships built with my amazing clients to help create long lasting relationships not just fleeting transactional ones!

🎉 8 YEARS QUALIFIED 🎉

1st August is a date I’ll always celebrate!

My route to qualification wasn’t linear. It took WAY longer than I had hoped and not by choice.

It took resilience. It took patience. But more than anything, it took people - colleagues at my previous firm who championed me when I needed it most.

On the flip side, qualifying with two of my now three boys in tow and them being beside me watching me succeed will forever be one of my proudest achievements.

Over the past 8 years, this profession has taught me so much:

✅ That no two clients or estates are ever the same.

✅ That empathy matters just as much as expertise.

✅ That calm in a crisis is a skill worth its weight in gold.

✅ That the learning never stops, and nor should it.

There have been challenging moments but there have also been victories, gratitude, quiet successes and the privilege of helping people through some of life’s hardest chapters with clarity and compassion.

I’ve grown not just as a professional, but as a person. This job teaches me grattitide for my health, my family and my choices on a daily basis.

So, here’s to the first 8 years and the next 8 to come.

I can’t wait for even more stories, challenges, interesting clients, life lessons and hopefully, a few moments that will make future-me just as proud as 2017-me was.

To everyone who’s been part of the journey so far: thank you. Truly.

When an original Will goes missing ⚖️

📖 Imagine this:

A loved one passes away unexpectedly. The family believes there’s a will… but no one can find it. They search everywhere, in cupboards, under the mattress, in old boxes of paper but it’s no where to be found.

What happens next?

What happens next?

👉 The estate may go through intestacy, meaning the law decides who inherits

👉 In some cases, a copy of the Will can be submitted for probate but this is a far more complex and difficult process.

✅ You must prove that the Will wasn’t destroyed intentionally

✅ You’ll likely need witness statements and strong evidence

✅ It’s often more stressful, more expensive, and it can cause long delays

✅ The risk of family disputes increases dramatically

All of this could be avoided with a valid Will kept in a known, secure place.

💡 My advice to you:

If you already have a Will, make sure someone knows where it is.

If you don’t have one yet, now is a great time to get it sorted.

🖋️ A professionally written Will is more than a document. It’s a gift of peace of mind to the people you care about.
