December is upon us! π And paying the rent over Christmas can sometimes be a problem for tenants. Some feel their priorities to presents and get-togethers.
π Here are our top tips if a tenant has not paid their rent...
1) Bring up the topic politely. This will help you to maintain a good relationship. It could be that the reason for a missed payment is fixable, and you can arrange a new date for the rent to be paid.
2) If this doesnβt help, keep all records of payments and anything stating evidence of the agreed rental income so your tenant canβt argue against it. This helps to build a case in your favour.
3) After collecting these details, your priority should be to settle the dispute amicably. It could be through an agreement on how the arrears will be resolved.
4) However if all of these solutions fail, you may have to take your tenant to court, in order to either claim the rent payments or evict them.
