Children exposed to the family courts will be protected from harm under plans by the Government to repeal the presumption of parental involvement (22 October 2025).

A child should have their right to be parented in loving, safe & secure household/s prioritised over the right of a parent, who subjected their other parent/their family to abuse, right to be involved and recognition of this need has now been acknowledged. Current legislation already provides for this but has been known to be overlooked. Hopefully this recognition ensures we start to see a shift in safer outcomes for victims parents and children- a change we support.
