So proud that our Director John Cooke is President year 👏

Westmorland County Agricultural Society's 31st Annual General Meeting!

On Saturday 14th February, we held our AGM here at Lane Farm, Crooklands. The event consisted of lots of fantastic speeches from society members as well as guest speakers and was very well attended.

We were delighted to welcome Mr John Cooke as this year's president and Mr Neil Dowker as our president elect.

A huge thank you to all who joined us for a lovely afternoon and big thanks to Alison Thompson Catering for a delicious buffet lunch.

A bit of surprisingly good news for Christmas about Inheritance Tax for farmers! The government has today (Tuesday 23 December) announced that the APR and BPR threshold will be increased from £1m to £2.5m when it is introduced in April 2026. Together with the changes announced in the November budget, this allows spouses or civil partners to pass on up to £5m in qualifying agricultural or business assets between them before paying inheritance tax, on top of existing allowances.
