A weekend in the woods to celebrate the last of my 20s 🪵✨

The end of the summer holidays are in sight, the kids have been feral, and I’m pretty sure we’ve all earned a lie down šŸ« šŸ˜‚

It’s been so lovely to spend the last weekend of the holidays in our favourite place, with the chaos and carnage of kids well and truly in tow.

Swipe to the end for a rare dressed-up pic of me… cocktails with the girls were VERY necessary šŸ˜šŸø

29… & not mad about it 🤩

Here’s to the year I hopefully become a chartered lawyer šŸ„‚šŸ¤©

The end is in sight! 🄹✨

It’s just over a week until my biggest girl starts back at school, and honestly… how have these 6 weeks felt like the longest AND shortest summer ever?! šŸ˜‚

There have been stressful moments, lots of juggling, plenty of tantrums (from all of us šŸ˜…), but SO much fun too.

I absolutely love doing life with my little family. The chaos, the adventures, the memories… even if I do need to sit in a dark, silent room afterwards to recoveršŸ˜‚šŸ«

We’ve done the school shop āœ”ļø
Labelled EVERYTHING āœ”ļø
Uniform sorted āœ”ļø
Almost ready to go āœ”ļø

Now just to enjoy this last little bit of summer before we’re back to school runs, packed lunches and routine! šŸ„¹šŸŽ’

Are you ready for back to school, or are you desperately clinging onto the last few days of summer? šŸ˜‚ā˜€ļø

Your children could end up in care if you die without doing this.

And no, your family simply ā€œgetting themā€ isn’t how it works.

You might have someone in mind. You might have spoken to them about it. But if you haven’t legally appointed them as your child’s guardian, your wishes aren’t formally recorded.

And if you die without putting this in place, social services and the courts decide what happens to your children … even if you have family who are ready and willing to care for them.

It’s not about being morbid.
It’s about making sure your wishes are known and your children are protectedā¤ļø

I will NOT stop talking about this until every parent in England and Wales knows about it!! šŸ‘šŸ»

There is one legal step that can give you control over who cares for your child if you die… and it could help avoid unnecessary social services involvement, court proceedings and, in some circumstances, the risk of your child being taken into care.

And what if I told you it can be so easily avoided with the right planning?

You don’t have to leave your child’s future to chance.

You can put a plan in place now, and I can help you do itšŸ‘‹šŸ»

Because protecting your children isn’t just about what happens while you’re here. It’s about making sure they’re protected if you’re notšŸ¤

ā€œWe’ve been together for years… so everything would automatically go to my partner.ā€

I wish it worked that way.

One of the biggest misconceptions I come across is that living together gives you the same legal rights as being married. Unfortunately, it doesn’t.

If you’re not married or in a civil partnership, your partner doesn’t automatically inherit your estate if you die without a valid Will—no matter how long you’ve been together or whether you have children.

It’s not about how much you love each other. It’s about what the law says.

The good news? It’s something you can plan for.

Taking the time to put the right documents in place is one of the simplest ways to protect the person you love and make sure your wishes are followed.

Don’t leave something so important to chance ā¤ļø

ā€œDon’t worry… we’re married, so everything automatically goes to my husband/wife.ā€

It’s one of the biggest myths I hear.

The reality is, being married doesn’t always mean your spouse inherits everything. It depends on what you own, how you own it, whether you have children, and whether you have a valid Will in place.

I’ve seen families shocked to discover that the law doesn’t always reflect what they assumed would happen.

A little planning now can save your loved ones unnecessary stress, delays, and unexpected complications later.

Don’t rely on assumptions when it comes to protecting the people you love. Make sure you know how the rules apply to your family… and if you’re unsure, ask šŸ‘‹šŸ»šŸ“©
