Personal injury protection — often known as PIP, or “no-fault coverage” — is a type of car insurance premium that can be claimed upon after a car accident. It is an American equivalent to a common insurance extra called “Personal Accident Cover” (PAC) in the UK.
It can be included in “comprehensive cover” but this varies between insurers. Personal Injury Protection Claims, therefore, are claims made on this policy in the event of serious injury or death after a car crash.
