SET(P) is NOT a way to buy extra time — and this mistake is ending people’s UK status.
SET(P), or Settlement Protection, is only for people with refugee status or humanitarian protection who have completed their 5 years. It is not a shortcut to extend your stay in the UK.
When people apply without eligibility — or skip their biometrics on bad advice — they can lose their credibility with the Home Office and even lose their Section 3C protection. That’s the rule that keeps you legal while your application is pending. Lose it, and you can become an overstayer without even realising.
One wrong application can undo years of effort. Always take advice from a qualified, IAA-regulated immigration adviser — never an unregulated one.
📌 Save this so you don’t make the same mistake.
