THAMES WATER REPAIRS

Thames Water has unfortunately had to revisit the mains repair on Pitshanger Lane.

The permit was issued until Friday 15th May. The necessary works have however been completed and the reinstatement process is now underway with one team on site and the tarmac team arriving later today.

We can therefore look forward to the diversions for traffic and bus routes returning to normal shortly, hopefully by the end of today.

THAMES WATER - UPDATE

The permit for the repairs at the western end of Pitshanger Lane has now been extended to Saturday, 18th April due to the extensive carriageway reinstatement required.

SSEN is also continuing their work which affects the footway between 1 Pitshanger Lane and the roundabout at Kent Gardens. However, this should not affect the carriageway reinstatement.

The road will, therefore, remain closed until Thames Water has completed the reinstatement with traffic continuing to be diverted via Castlebar Park and the bus routes on their usual diverted routes.

THAMES WATER REPAIR WORKS

We have been advised that Thames Water needs to carry out further repair works due to a leak at the western end of Pitshanger Lane which will involve a disruption to water supply affecting some properties.

Regrettably, the nature of the work requires a road closure yet again. The Lane will therefore be closed between Castlebar Park and the roundabout at Kent Gardens.

We are advised by engineers that work has begun but the next stage (which they advise involves shutting off the mains water supply for a short period) will start at some point this evening (from 5.00pm onwards).

The permit for works has been issued from today, Friday 10th April, until Thursday 16th April but John has asked that the work is completed as a priority in order to reopen the Lane as quickly as possible.

Bus routes E2 and E9 will be diverted off the Lane and along the usual routes with a temporary westbound bus stop at Kent Gardens, and Bellevue Road being the nearest eastbound stop.

THAMES WATER REPAIR WORKS

We have been advised that Thames Water will carry out repair works on Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th March.

There is a leak under the road which, although not visible, does require repair.

The Lane will be closed between Harrow View Road and Albert Road with parking bays on both north and south sides of the Lane in that location affected. Traffic diversions around the side roads will be in place.

Bus routes E2 and E9 will also be diverted off the Lane and along the usual routes with a temporary westbound bus stop at Kent Gardens and Bellevue Road being the nearest eastbound stop.

It has been agreed that the repairs will be scheduled for completion over these two days and not a week as originally indicated.

PARKING RESTRICTIONS

Contractors from Murrill have advised that carriageway lining works will take place on Pitshanger Lane tomorrow, Wednesday 18th February.
Yellow “no parking” cones will be placed in the areas requiring access (which covers most bays along the Lane) and a tow truck may be used on the day if necessary to relocate vehicles which remain an obstruction - the notice below has been placed on vehicles currently parked in the relevant bays.

Pitshanger Lane is fully open with no diversions and buses are running along their usual routes.

Thames Water arrived on Pitshanger Lane this morning (Saturday 7th) to deal with “emergency” repairs and, due to the location, have closed the Lane for vehicle access between Selby Road and Albert Road with Harrow View Road only accessible from Meadvale Road.
Bus routes E2 and E9 have been diverted along the usual diversion route with a temporary bus stop at the bottom of Kent Gardens for westbound services.
The repair works are currently scheduled to last until Tuesday 10th February.

Update on E2 and E9 bus routes

Many of you will have noted that the buses were not running along the Lane this morning.

John has spoken with contractors on site and with TfL representatives. The repair on Woodfield Road has been completed and TfL has now arranged to put the buses back on line.

Normal service resumed!

Stop and Shop+ Parking Enforcement on Pitshanger Lane

A number of vehicles on the Lane were issued with PCNs on Saturday 6th December and many of those affected came to query this with us.

John spoke to the enforcement officers at the time who were unaware of the position in respect of free bays. This was not assisted by the fact that the free bays are not designated on any parking signage (where previously they were) nor has it been addressed by way of road markings.

John wrote to Parking Services and has today received confirmation that enforcement for those bays has ceased until the matter is resolved and clarified. John also sought the cancellation of PCNs issued on Saturday due to the lack of clarity on the bays, their markings, and the confusion created.

In order to assist the process, if you or someone you know received a PCN on Saturday, please send details (ideally a copy of the PCN) to [email protected] so that it can be sent on to the officer in Parking Services.

Regardless of the pause in enforcement of those bays, all visitors to the Lane are encouraged to get into the habit of registering for parking on arrival.

On this point, there have been a number of queries regarding charges levied via the Pay by Phone parking app. Please therefore note the following:
- if you register for 30 minutes free parking where there is no payment, there will be no fee levied
- where payment for parking is required, a 10p fee will be levied
- settings on the app automatically select SMS messages for confirmation of registration and also for a reminder that the parking session is about to end for which a 20p charge is levied on each occasion

To change SMS message notifications, go to Account - Settings - Parking Notifications and deselect both SMS confirmations and SMS reminders.
If you do not you will be charged 20p for each and every SMS message

We will seek confirmation of the date that full enforcement will restart and advise so that all visitors to the Lane are aware.
