Just a quick brief introduction in regards to what L&P Advice is and can be doing. We prepare reports and help with cases. Writing contracts and mortgages is also one of the main tasks and have a lot of experience in mortgage management as well as income tax returns and other financial documents. As a paralegal we can always assist you in the majority of cases as long as they do not end up in court – which I always make sure it doesn’t. If it does I do know some solicitors who can help moving forward, however most of the things I do take care of myself. Why use us ? Firstly, our costs are much lower. Lawyers/Solicitors usually charge £150-£250 per hour and for more senior ones you can imagine the price is doubled. Another reason is that nowadays, paralegals are filling the gap left by the abolition of Legal Aid. Before April 2013 you could get legal funding to bring a case to court or defend an action against you. This has now been eradicated for all but a few cases. If someone takes you to court claiming you owe them money, or if you want to take someone to court and need help with how the process works or if you have been arrested for a minor criminal offence and need representation – L&P Advice is always here. If you wish to take action against your employer through a Tribunal, or if you need assistance in a matrimonial matter or a housing matter, contact L&P Advice. Just a reminder! There is no statutory regulation for paralegals in the same way as there is for solicitors, so it’s important to ask for evidence of the paralegal’s qualifications and experience, and check they are a member of a professional body such as the National Association of Licensed Paralegals (NALP). L&P Advice has qualified paralegals who have been members of NALP for quite a number of years!
