Relying on Pre-Settled Status? It might be time to take action!

With recent updates to Home Office processes and stricter automated data checks, relying solely on temporary Pre-Settled Status is no longer a safe long-term strategy. Pre-Settled Status was never meant to be permanent.

Applying for full EU Settled Status guarantees indefinite permission to live and work in the UK, offering you true peace of mind and protection against future policy changes.

Is your business planning to recruit sponsored workers soon?

Be aware of current delays with the Home Office's Priority CoS (Certificate of Sponsorship) Allocation service.

As highlighted by our Senior Business Immigration Specialist, David Faulkner-Bryant, the priority service is currently experiencing significant oversubscription. While this service normally allows sponsor licence holders to expedite their CoS allocation requests, demand is currently exceeding capacity, and priority slots are being exhausted very quickly.

What does this mean for employers?
- Access to the priority service cannot be relied upon.
- Repeated attempts to secure a slot are often required.
- Recruitment timelines may be delayed if an allocation isn't secured in advance.

Our View: Where possible, employers should plan their CoS allocation proactively rather than relying on the priority service as a contingency.

Planning to build your life together in the UK? 🇬🇧🇺🇸

If you are a U.S. national in a same-sex relationship with a British citizen or settled person, the UK Unmarried Partner Visa allows you to live together in the UK without needing to be married or in a civil partnership.

To be eligible, you will need to demonstrate a durable relationship - typically supported by at least two years of living together, and an intention to live together permanently in the UK. Your UK partner must also meet the minimum income requirement and provide suitable accommodation.

⚠️ Where do applications go wrong?

The Home Office expects crystal-clear proof. Informal living arrangements, incomplete documentation, and gaps in your cohabitation history can cause your application to be rejected.

Don't leave your future to chance! Our latest article breaks down everything you need to know about applying from the US and how our team builds a coherent, defensible application to give you the best chance of success.

A UK visa refusal can be frustrating and threaten business continuity or livelihoods, but it does not have to be the end of the road.

Many visa refusals are technically avoidable and stem from misunderstandings about evidential thresholds, incorrect financial calculations, or sponsor compliance issues.

At The Visa Office, we know that simply resubmitting forms is not the answer. We analyse every refusal decision line-by-line against the relevant Immigration Rules and Home Office policy to identify factual, legal, or procedural errors.

The correct strategic route may be a fresh application, an administrative review, or an appeal and timelines matter. Post-refusal remedies are strictly time-limited, and delays can reduce your options.

Read the latest Service Update from our Managing Director, Louisa Faulkner-Bryant, to learn how our structured, evidence-led approach can help you or your employees get back on track.

Navigating the UK immigration system?

Significant reforms are taking place in 2026 and 2027, marking one of the most substantial recalibrations of the UK's immigration framework in recent years.

Our specialist Peter Shannon explains what these changes mean for you ifyou are an employer dealing with new compliance burdens, or an applicant navigating the new "visa brake" system, you will need to understand these new rules.

For instance, did you know the English language requirement for new Skilled Worker applications submitted outside of the UK has increased to CEFR B2? The update also covers new visa extensions for Ukrainians and broader working rights for asylum seekers.

We’ve recently refreshed our website not to change who we are, but to reflect how we actually work.

Immigration decisions are rarely just about meeting a rule or submitting a form. They sit in context: business pressure, family life, long‑term plans, historic decisions, and institutional scrutiny.

Our work has always focused on judgement, understanding not just what is technically possible, but what is sensible, defensible, and safe in light of risk and consequence.

The updated site reflects that approach more clearly:

* sponsor licensing as a regulatory position, not an admin step
* settlement and citizenship as high‑stakes milestones, not inevitabilities,
advice shaped by timing, history, and credibility not checklists

If you’re navigating immigration decisions where the context matters, that’s where we do our best work. You can see the updated site here: www.visa-office.com
