Before initiating judicial review proceedings, we send a Pre-Action Protocol Letter (or Letter Before the Claim) to the Home Office. This letter explains why the decision is unfair, irrational, unlawful or violates human rights and warns that judicial review proceedings will commence if the decision is not withdrawn. The Home Office will usually review the decision within 14 days of receiving the letter and often this leads to the decision being reconsidered without the need to make a formal judicial review application.

My immigration case was an extremely long and difficult journey, with one obstacle after another. My case was then taken over by Hayk, and I honestly could not have asked for a better person to continue fighting my case. Hayk did not simply treat me as another client or another case number. At one stage, Hayk successfully fought my deportation order against the Home Office, which was an enormous victory. The Ministry of Justice launched "A Fairer End to Relationships" on 5th June 2026, its consultation on reforming the financial consequences of relationship breakdown in England and Wales. The proposals would let cohabiting couples who have lived together for at least three years, or sooner if they have a child together, bring financial claims against each other after separation, alongside new intestacy rights for surviving cohabitants. The consultation also asks whether courts should weigh domestic abuse when dividing assets, with Resolution proposing that abuse become a factor courts must consider except where it is fair to disregard it. The consultation closes on 14th August 2026, and Baroness Deech has criticised the plans as a risk to people who deliberately keep their finances separate.

From 1 October 2026, the Home Office’s draft Code of Practice will expand the right to work regime beyond traditional employees to include contractors, casual and agency workers, gig economy staff, and individual subcontractors. Failure to carry out compliant checks can result in large fines. For a first breach, the maximum civil penalty is £45,000 per illegal worker. For repeat breaches, the maximum penalty is £60,000 per illegal worker.
