The EU Settlement Scheme is changing – and the implications are significant for those with pre-settled status.

In this interview, Kian Richardson explains key developments, including:
– the expansion of automatic grants of settled status
– the introduction of the “30 in 60” residence rule
– who may not qualify for automatic conversion
– when pre-settled status may be removed

With around 1.4 million people still holding pre-settled status, these updates are highly relevant.

A sponsor licence refusal doesn't always mean starting from scratch, but acting quickly is essential.

Depending on why the application was refused, it may be possible to correct a caseworker error, challenge the decision by judicial review, or submit a fresh application. Some refusal reasons require a 6-month wait before re-applying, and any fresh application must address the earlier refusal directly. A UKVI compliance visit is likely to follow.

Understanding which option applies to your situation, and the time limits attached to each, is the critical first step.

🚨 Sponsor licence guidance update this week from the Home Office.

In her latest article, Immigration Barrister Georgina Griggs explains the Home Office’s new formal definition of “operating or trading” for sponsor licence applications and why the change matters for Skilled Worker sponsors.

The article explains how the updated guidance may affect:

– start-ups and pre-revenue businesses
– newly established UK companies
– overseas businesses setting up in the UK
– sponsor licence refusals and revocations
– compliance scrutiny and documentary requirements

The guidance also introduces new examples of situations where the Home Office may conclude that a business is not genuinely trading, including concerns around “circular trading” between linked entities.
