Question: “I want to get a job in the UK or the US. How do I make myself a stronger candidate?”
Here’s the tricky part. Many candidates mention in their CVs that they need an employer-sponsored visa. Understandable — but this automatically puts you behind those who already hold a Global Talent Visa, an O-1, or citizenship.
For an employer, sponsoring a visa isn’t just about money. It takes time, legal support, and administrative effort. So yes — if you’re relying only on employer sponsorship, you’ll most likely be considered after everyone else. That means you’re competing with only 20–30% of the actual candidate pool.
💡 Career hack: Run two processes in parallel.
On your CV, emphasize that you already hold (or are in the process of obtaining) a talent visa. At the same time, work independently to secure your Global Talent Visa (UK) or O-1 (US) visa. Why? Because if you depend on employer sponsorship:
Your relocation is tied to your boss’s decision, not immigration authorities.
If you’re on a work visa, changing jobs without losing your status is incredibly hard.
💥 The smartest move? Act independently. Don’t let your future depend on HR paperwork. Make it depend on you.
