UK employers: is your sponsor licence compliance up to date?
The Home Office continues to tighten scrutiny of businesses sponsoring overseas workers. Employers need to ensure they are sponsoring eligible roles, keeping the required records and carrying out the correct right to work checks.
Getting these obligations wrong can have serious consequences. Civil penalties for illegal working can reach £60,000 per worker for repeat breaches, while serious sponsor compliance failures can put the business's sponsor licence at risk.
For growing businesses, sponsorship compliance can easily become an afterthought as recruitment moves quickly. But sponsor duties are ongoing and need to be built into your day-to-day HR and compliance processes.
If your business holds a UK sponsor licence, now is a good time to review your processes, records and right to work checks.
