We were delighted to welcome 30 members of the Afghan Judiciary and other Afghan legal professionals to our London office this week. We were both moved and inspired by their courage and determination. We very much look forward to working with our colleagues in the UK legal community to help these talented individuals to continue their legal training and careers here. We also continue to help others who remain in Afghanistan and other third countries who wish to relocate to the UK.

Thank you to all of our guests, including the UK Association of Women Judges, International Bar Association's Human Rights Institute, Garden Court Chambers, Wilsons Solicitors, Mishcon de Reya LLP

Public law campaigners help vulnerable child's legal aid challenge - Our Amanda Weston Q.C., Ollie Persey & Isaac Ricca-Richardson represent the child in the judicial review proceedings. Coverage in The Law Society Gazette.

They are instructed by Emma Vincent Miller of Public Law Project. Esther Salter of Simpson Millar Solicitors is representing the child in the SEND tribunal case.

"Public Law Project was granted permission by the High Court to challenge the agency's refusal to grant its client, who is of infant school age & partly under the care of the local authority, exceptional case funding (ECF) for an appeal to a SEND tribunal."

Law Society stepped in financially after LAA refused to grant funding for judicial review claim against the agency's decision.

⚡Last week we hosted our Nationality & Borders Bill Conference.

It was an all-day hybrid conference on the delivered by barristers from the leading Immigration & Public Law teams of Garden Court Chambers with a keynote from the Rt Hon Baroness Chakrabarti CBE.

The overhauls all areas of ,
and law. The has stated they believe this Bill will ‘penalise most refugees seeking asylum in the country, creating an asylum model that undermines established international refugee protection rules and practices'.

Our timely conference coincides with the Bill’s passage through the final stage of the Parliamentary process.

Thanks again to all speakers, keynotes, attendees, the organising team and to our wonderful conference chair, Adrian Berry.

Please see our Twitter Moment on the conference here: https://bit.ly/3rtJP1J
