Crystal Palace’s Conference League triumph is more than just a historic moment for the club. As David Little writes, it could reshape the entire Premier League landscape next season.

With a record number of English teams in Europe, fixture congestion, TV scheduling pressures, and new financial rules are set to create ripple effects far beyond Selhurst Park. From fewer traditional Saturday kick-offs to a potential shift in competitive balance, the impact could be significant. https://www.bishopandsewell.co.uk/2026/06/04/palace-success-has-major-implications-for-premier-league/

Last weekend delivered classic football drama - promotion joy for Hull City, survival relief for Spurs, and heartbreak for West Ham. It was sport at its most compelling: real, unpredictable, and earned.

Meanwhile in Las Vegas, the much-hyped Enhanced Games promised to push human performance beyond its limits by embracing performance-enhancing drugs writes David Little. Instead, the opposite happened. Only one unofficial world record fell, most athletes failed to outperform themselves, and the standout 100m winner was competing clean.

For an event built on breaking boundaries, it barely moved the needle. Strip away integrity, and you don’t get better sport — just a weaker spectacle with a bigger price tag. https://www.bishopandsewell.co.uk/2026/05/28/record-disappointment-at-the-enhanced-games/

In Mountview Estates plc v W8 Property Ltd [2026], the Upper Tribunal has provided important clarification on what “good tenantable repair” really means in lease extension valuations.
As Chris Macartney writes, this decision draws a clear line between repair and modernisation - with significant implications for how property condition should be assessed when determining premiums under the 1993 Act. https://www.bishopandsewell.co.uk/2026/05/28/upper-tribunal-clarifies-good-tenantable-repair-in-lease-extension-valuations/

We’re delighted to share some recent client feedback for Charlotte Archer, a Partner in our Residential Property team, for her work on a recent and complex property transaction.

“ Charlotte assisted me from start to finish in what turned out to be quite a complicated sale process! It's a clear buyer's market at the moment so sellers have to be thorough & in the detail but also know when to stand their ground. There were a number of nuances to this sale that made it non-standard, and Charlotte was great in navigating us through it.”

Congratulations to Charlotte on another excellent result and for delivering such a positive client experience.

We’re pleased to share some more excellent client feedback for Farzana Rahman in our Residential Property team following a recent successful transaction:

"It was time-sensitive … I had to complete on buying the flat within a specific time frame in order not to incur additional costs. Farzana Ramade it happen: she was extremely efficient, clear in all communications and responsive… she got all subtle legal points right.
She was easy to reach and ready to ask my questions, and I liked that she explained things in a way that was very understandable and concise, both by phone and emails.”

A brilliant result in a time-sensitive matter, demonstrating the importance of clear communication, responsiveness, and meticulous attention to detail.

Congratulations to Farzana on delivering such an outstanding client experience — and for going above and beyond when it mattered most.

If ever a game needed no introduction, it is the Championship play-off final - the so‑called “richest game in football,” now carrying a £200 million golden ticket to the Premier League. Yet this week, a surreal tale of alleged espionage, involving an intern, a mobile phone, and a tree, has cast a shadow over what should be a straightforward showpiece and resulted in a PR nightmare as well as huge frustration for fans and players. David Little looks at the 'Southampton SpyGate Scandal" in this week's blog.
