Many of you know I work in the global mobility and immigration space, and I’ve decided to start sharing more insights here — breaking down key UK immigration updates, workforce mobility trends, and policy developments in a simple, clear way.
I want to help you make sense of what’s happening — how changes in immigration rules affect people, employers, and the broader movement of talent in the UK.

📢 🔔 Immigration Rules Update – Effective 22 July 2025 🔔

From 22 July, a wave of significant reforms will reshape UK immigration:



🎓 Skilled Worker (Tier 2) route – all new applicants
• Skill level raised to RQF 6 (graduate-level) – only degree-level roles qualify 🎓
• Occupations below this (approx. 111 jobs) no longer eligible—unless listed on the Temporary Shortage List (TSL) or remaining on the Immigration Salary List (ISL) 
• Salary thresholds increase:
• General: from £38,700 → £41,700, renewals included
• New entrants/ISL roles: £30,960 → £33,400 
• Family visas restricted – no dependants allowed for new RQF 3–5 roles on TSL/ISL ()



👵 Adult Social Care visas (403/6135 & 6136)
• Entry clearance closes completely from 22 July 2025
• In‑country switching allowed until 22 July 2028, provided the worker has 3 months continuous service before COS  



🎓 Graduate & Student routes
• Post‑study Graduate visa cut from 2–3 years down to 18 months for future graduates 



🛂 Transitional provisions
• COS issued before 22 July will still qualify under the old rules 



📘 What this means for you
• Employers should fast-track skilled-worker sponsorships before 22 July to avoid tighter thresholds or losing dependant allowances
• Potential applicants must ensure their role meets the new graduate-level and salary criteria
• Social care employers/applicants must act now if seeking entry clearance — switching after that is only possible within the UK until 2028
• Students & graduates: plan carefully — new Graduate visas won’t offer 2+ years again

Did you know with the new graduate route to the UK, you can work for up to two years after studying a degree in the UK? You can gain the trust and experience with a UK employer during that time then get a Skilled Worker visa during this time providing the employer has a Sponsor Licence. Once you’re here for five years you can then apply for residency.
