WHO IS REALLY PAYING FOR THE PRINCESSES’ LIFESTYLE? 💰
A story they don’t particularly like talking about. ❌️
After the scandal surrounding Andrew, the former prince and the King’s brother, the British public became interested not only in why he had lived for so many years at Royal Lodge on terms most ordinary people could hardly imagine, but also in the bigger question of how money actually works inside the Royal Family.
And this is where it gets really interesting. ❗️
Andrew paid virtually no rent while living at Royal Lodge, a Crown property — well, family is family, right?
At the same time, he reportedly rented out 3 cottages on the estate to other people, generating a substantial private income.
Let’s be honest: this money going straight into his pocket.
The National Audit Office hasn't publicly disclosed exactly how much he made from this.🤔
Now let’s look at his daughters.
Both have their own private property.
However, Beatrice lives at St James’s Palace and Eugenie lives at Ivy Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace.
And their palace accommodation is paid for by the King himself.
Neither Beatrice nor Eugenie is a working royal.
At times, it becomes very difficult to tell where a family privilege ends… and the financial value of being a member of the Royal Family begins.
The Andrew saga has been painfully awkward for the entire Royal Family. Suddenly, it became clear that for years there had been a whole web of property arrangements, gifts, rental agreements and private financial dealings surrounding him.
Andrew lost his royal privileges.
His daughters didn’t.
They kept their titles, their access to palace accommodation and the financial infrastructure that came with their family name.
And this leaves many people asking:
If you don’t work for the monarchy, you have your own home and your own income — why should the King be paying for your palace apartment?
But perhaps that is simply…British royal family arithmetic. 👑
