As I have been asked multiple times over the last week I thought I would share

A quick overview regarding citizenship via birthright (Jus Soli)

Citizenship via birthright, also known as jus soli, grants nationality to individuals born within a country's territory.

This principle is based on the idea that birth in a particular place automatically qualifies one for citizenship. In the UK, jus soli historically applied before changes in nationality laws restricted its scope. Currently, UK citizenship by birthright is only granted in certain circumstances, such as when at least one parent is a British citizen or settled in the UK.

The implications of this limited application ensure that citizenship is not solely determined by place of birth, but by a combination of factors including parentage and residency status.

It remains to be seen whether Donald Trumps executive order will be implemented due to the US Constitutional legal system, but for undocumented individuals who have had children in the US the future is not at all bright.
