We're pleased to welcome a new Data Protection Officer (DPO), Ryan Mackie, to our network!

Ryan is a qualified Lawyer specialising in Cyber Security and Data Protection Law. He is also a professional member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and is FIP, CIPP/E and CIPM certified.

Ryan's most recent experience includes:

Working as a Consultant DPO, CyberSec & Data Protection lawyer at a law firm

Acting as a DPO for clients such as Dominos Pizza, BFC Bank, Oxford University

Helping several software vendors design software and tools to assist clients in assessing and managing their Cyber Security and GDPR compliance efforts.

Using her vast experience in different industries ranging from retail and fashion to AI and blockchain, Anthi helps our clients navigate complex data protection and privacy issues.
She had been assisting clients with data protection issues for several years before GDPR rules were introduced. In the wake of new GDPR regulations, Anthi realised the extent to which data protection requirements would affect businesses globally.

She decided to become more involved and build up her expertise in an area of law that is particularly nuanced due to its global reach and is also highly complex given its contingency upon technical requirements.

Data protection is also constantly racing to keep up with new technologies such as facial recognition and artificial intelligence, which require regulation via new laws. Anthi finds it very rewarding to decode complex data protection concepts in simple terms and apply them in practice to meet her clients' ever-changing needs.

If she could give one data protection advice to startups, it would be: "Do not neglect data protection compliance as non-compliance could become a significant hurdle during your journey to scaling-up or when the time comes to demonstrate your data protection practices to your investors and your customers."

Legal Nodes raises $300,000 from European unicorn founders 🚀

We are thrilled to announce the completion of the Legal Nodes’ $300k investment round! The round was led by the LIFT99 Angel Syndicate and included investments from a number of investors from Pipedrive and Printify including Ragnar Sass, Artis Kehris, Martin Henk, and Maarika Truu. Amongst other prominent investors to join the round are the founder of a UK-based startup TaxScouts, Mart Abramov, former COO & Head of Growth at Fuzu, Edward Vaisberg, and Hype Ventures led by Mathias Eklöf. Inspirium Laboratories founded by partners from Sigma Software and founder of a YC Startup Datrics, Anton Vaisburd have also joined the round.

Legal Nodes initially started as a lawyer matchmaking platform 2,5 years ago. Now the company is set to redefine the way legal services are provided and delivered by introducing a new software solution that provides subscription products connected online and managed in the cloud.

By offering monthly subscriptions, Legal Nodes acts as a Virtual Counsel to whom clients can submit legal tasks and track their progress in the client portal for a predictable fixed monthly fee.
