Planning for your pet’s future is one of the kindest things you can do, and it’s much easier than most people think.

A few clear lines in your Will can make a huge difference. It means your pet will go straight to someone you trust, their care will be properly funded, and your loved ones won’t be left guessing about what you would’ve wanted.

Angelika Simpson, Solicitor & Team Leader of our Wills, Trusts & Probate team, breaks down the simple steps you can take to make sure your pet is protected, whatever the future holds.

A Will isn’t something you write when you hit a certain age, it’s something you write when you want control.

There’s a common myth that Wills are for later: later in life, later in your career, later when you’ve “got more to sort out”. A Will is a simple but powerful document that gives clarity, certainty, and protection, especially for people who assume they’re too young to need one.

Laura Beattie, Solicitor in our Wills, Trusts & Probate team, explains that some of the most important decisions you’ll ever make shouldn’t wait for a milestone birthday.

Making a Will isn’t morbid, complicated, or something to put off. It’s an act of care for the people you love and the future you’re building.
Have you ever thought about creating a Will? Maybe it's time to start.

Last week, we were delighted to welcome so many colleagues, partners, and friends to our New Year Connections: Jackson Lees Group Mixer at the Liverpool Gin Distillery.

It was a fantastic turnout, and we’re grateful for the brilliant energy everyone brought to the evening.

From catching up with familiar faces to sparking completely new conversations, the event was exactly what we hoped it would be: friendly, relaxed, and full of meaningful interactions to set a positive tone for the year ahead.

We’ve received some great feedback, and it’s clear there’s real appetite for more gatherings like this in 2026. The venue, atmosphere, and the very popular canapés all helped make the night one to remember, with a special shoutout to Seriously Barmy for creating such amazing bites that everyone talked about!

Here’s to more conversations, more collaboration, and more shared moments across the Jackson Lees Group this year.

Last week, Claire Martini, Partner & Head of Court of Protection, and Rachel Stewart, Solicitor & Team Leader, delivered a specialist training session for Phoenix Legal’s Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence team.

This focused workshop explored core areas of Court of Protection work, including understanding clients and assessing capacity, the process of appointing a deputy, what’s required for a successful application to the Court of Protection, and the key responsibilities a deputy takes on after settlement.

Drawing on practical insights from real cases, Claire and Rachel offered guidance designed to support legal professionals in navigating complex situations with confidence and care. The session reinforced how crucial it is to understand the full client journey, from early capacity considerations through to long term post settlement planning.

At Jackson Lees Group, we remain committed to empowering fellow practitioners with the specialist knowledge needed to better support vulnerable individuals and their families. A big thank you to Phoenix Legal for inviting us to share this session.
