Great home made cakes as ever too Kaz 😋

June is finally here and that can only mean one thing - it's the ABR Festival! with Adventure Bike Rider
We've been looking forward to this since last year's event as it's the hottest, biggest, brightest motorcycle festival and one we love attending.
And of course we like to make it fun too so we'll be running a competition on our stand.
Want to win a great prize? Well we have THREE on offer - a medical kit by Rider Trauma Kit membership of TRF Trail (Members Only) and an advanced rider course with membership of IAM RoadSmart
At White Dalton amongst our team we've got crew who are members of the groups and have the trauma kit, so we know they're a real bonus for bikers to have.
So the countdown is on to a great event - when it hits come find our stand to find out more👍

Today has been a fantastic day of biking - full on from early morning to late to ensure we made the most of it.
Aside from the Lycra clad brigade and the horsepower that literally comes with four legs there were many other bikers out on a mission to enjoy the day too- and some with less regard for their skin.

We totally get the temptation to ride in shorts, t-shirt and trainers on a day when the temperature’s almost 30 degrees.
But we urge you to think carefully. At White Dalton we often have injured clients who’ve received terrible injuries after not wearing appropriate gear. It doesn’t matter if the accident was caused by someone else - the rider still has to face the consequences of injuries received from sliding along hot tarmac, often with a heavy bike stuck on top of them!

We would in no way curtail your fun but simply suggest you ride for the “slide” you never expect to take.
We know good gear isn’t cheap - that’s why we give away £250 of SportsBikeShop vouchers every single month.
It’s free to enter - because we know the difference good kit can make to a rider.

If you want to be in the free draw go to the link and sign up now - and you could win the vouchers to upgrade your kit or add a few new items whether it’s boots, gloves, trousers or jackets. And several of our team would highly recommend a Knox utility shirt in this heat for cool comfort whilst providing protection.
Enjoy your weekend folks 👍

We just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who kindly sponsored our marketing manager Prendy.
She was co leader of The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride in Tring, along with our ambassador Biker Kaz
The ladies did a superb job of leading 170 riders on classic motorcycles around Marsworth, Tring reservoir, Berkhamsted, Ashridge and Ivinghoe Beacon.

Prendy rode a 50 year old Yamaha RD250, two stroke with kickstarter! Which you can see in the picture📸 and was kindly lent by the Tring ride organiser Steve Hamilton
Kaz rode a Triumph Speed 400, loaned by Triumph UK.

The ride happens around the globe to raise money for men’s mental health and prostate cancer. White Dalton was very proud to be a sponsor of the local ride which is for such a great cause, and Senior Partner, Andrew Prendergast took part, volunteering as a ride Marshall.

Prendy has managed to raise £715 so far with your help.
The donations officially close on 31 May - so there’s just a little bit of time left for anyone thinking of adding to her link!
We’ll be letting you all know how much the Tring ride raised in total when the donations link closes.
Thanks again

Insurance is about covering the risk.
So if you are on a bike for business rather than just social and domestic purposes it stands to reason that you’ll be covering more miles in different circumstances and therefore at more risk.
Which is why we can’t stress enough how you need to ensure you insure your bike appropriately.

We got asked by a young lad who thought that because he was fully comprehensive insurance that that meant he could do a job delivering takeaways for a Turkish restaurant.

Whilst it’s commendable that the lad was doing his best to earn a few pounds - it’s imperative that he checks the detail of his insurance.

If he’s not covered he risks penalty points, could lose his licence and even have a criminal record.

If he has an accident his insurer could pull cover - and then come after him for any money they had to pay out.

We had a case where a a rider was involved in a collision with two pedestrians. His insurance company found he was not riding in accordance with his policy. They came after him for £100,000. As he hadn’t got that they went after his only asset - his house.

So don’t be tempted to save a few pounds. Get it right and get proper insurance to cover you and your riding.

At White Dalton we regularly answer legal questions for most of the major bike magazines and newspapers. We also have a blog on our website - so have a read and keep yourself informed.

The sun shone, the temperatures were high and the road was calling at the weekend - but let's hope that tempting though it may be to ride a little faster to keep cooler, that that didn't encourage you to be reckless! (We're fairly certain no police officer is going to accept that as a reason for speeding😄!)
Because speeding always means prizes if you get caught - and that can even mean a stay at one of his majesty's non luxury accommodations 😉
At the other end of the scale those prizes can mean points - and our ambassador, Biker Kaz has been looking into how many a rider can have - and the consequences. So please put your feet up and take a read before you take a ride and let that sink in...

What is the max number of points you can have on your licence whilst driving?

Are you part of HBAM - Herts & Beds Advanced Motorcyclists ? If so we hope you’re enjoying finding some Challenge location spots this bank holiday.
White Dalton is sponsoring this years challenge so there are some great prizes to be had. There are 75 locations to visit all over the country and bonus points available too. (Pictured is the Chair of HBAM Russell Wenman gathering some Challenge points 👌).
Having your IAM is a great tool in the skills set of any biker.
As a vulnerable road user we face far more risks than other road users - so anything that can help us out is worth considering.👍
And the best bit is it definitely helps make your biking more fun too.😄
HBAM has a great social calendar too with organised ride outs and club nights too.
You can find details about HBAM on their fb page as well as how to sign up for your course.

What a beauty of a day - 🌞😎 perfect for getting out on two wheels.
Stopped in at On Yer Bike which was hosting its ducatiuk roadshow.
An excellent opportunity to try new bikes if you love Ducati❤️
Enjoy the bank hols folks - the weather is going to stay toasty so keep an fairweather eye out for car drivers not concentrating.
Many families take their smaller versions of themselves out to make the most of the weather but drivers can feel harassed and at their wits end if someone’s in the back seat using the full force of their mini lungs - leading to poor driving decisions like sudden u-turns!
Ride safe folks 👍
