Your electrical cupboard is the central hub of your building's power, housing high-voltage wiring that represents a major fire risk.

If a fault occurs, a non-compliant door will allow smoke and flames to breach your escape routes in a matter of minutes.

Overheating and electrical faults are a major cause of property fires, making containment your highest priority.

At Expyro, we install fully compliant, certified fire doors equipped with the correct intumescent seals and self-closing mechanisms to ensure that in the event of a fire, it is properly contained and lives are protected.

If your electrical cupboard requires this kind of protection, get in touch with our team today to book the associated remedial works:

Earlier this month, our Protect team undertook a 2 week project at Leigh Community Centre, completing fire door remedial work and fire door replacements.

These works improve the compliance and enhance the overall fire protection within the centre, creating a safer environment for staff, visitors, and members of the community who use the facility on a daily basis.

"The team at Leigh Community Centre were an absolute pleasure to work with, and we were delighted to support a space that does so much for the local community." - Daisy O'Brien, Head of Protect.

As Leigh Community Centre provides so many valuable services, groups, and classes for the local community, our team were very happy to carry out the remedial fire works to the communal doors in a way that best suited the centre and its daily activities.

At Expyro Fire Safety Group we provide a full range of fire protection services.

And it all starts with an in-depth Fire Risk Assessment.

Fire Risk Assessments have a reputation for being complicated.

Dense reports, technical language and pages of findings with no clear sense of what actually needs doing.

At Expyro Fire Safety Group, we do it differently.

Every FRA we conduct comes with:

- A fully compliant Fire Risk Assessment report
- A clear summary page highlighting Medium & High Risk issues
- An itemised quote to fix them

No more guesswork. Just a clear picture of exactly what needs to happen next.

Because knowing you have a problem is only useful if you know how to solve it.

Building a safer future starts with building the right culture.

At Expyro, our "PROTECT Methodology" is the heartbeat of everything we do.

But it’s our people - the faces behind the SHIELD - who bring those principles to life every day.

We believe that a great fire safety business is built on:

âś… Education: Sharing knowledge across the property ecosystem.
âś… Community: Developing a positive culture of protection for everyone.
✅ Responsibility: Taking ownership so our clients don’t have to worry.

Our team’s varied backgrounds are our greatest strength. We’re more than just technicians; we’re community members who care about keeping our buildings safe.

While Southend United rose to the occasion and made history in the FA Trophy at Wembley last Sunday, an equally massive challenge was being undertaken for our local community.

Ahead of the big game, Echosport reporter Chris Phillips completed his epic charity walk all the way from Roots Hall to Wembley Stadium. He took on this incredible challenge to raise vital funds for the Southend United Community Foundation's fundraising drive to purchase a dedicated community bus.

This bus will be used by mental health groups across Southend alongside the Blues’ community foundation.

Amazing local organizations like SECE Mind, Andy's Man Club, and Southend Samaritans have already signed up, meaning the bus will offer on-the-ground counselling sessions, outreach at Southend United games, and vital community transport.

Southend won big on the pitch, but this project ensures our community wins off the pitch, too.

At Expyro Fire Safety Group, we are proud to support this amazing cause.

The fundraising page is still open if you'd like to help them reach their final target and get this bus on the road!

There is a common misconception that a cool door handle signals a safe room in a fire.

We’ve all seen Hollywood scenes that depict this exact scenario.

However, from a fire safety perspective, is is not the case, and could cause you or others harm.

A cool door handle only means the fire hasn't directly heated the metal yet.

Smoke and toxic gases, the leading causes of fire casualties, rise rapidly to the ceiling and can completely fill the adjacent room without raising the temperature of the handle at the bottom.

Protect your workplace and your people with Expyro's modern fire safety solutions and resources.

Remedial Works

Recently, our Protect Team completed some remedial works on a fire door in Chelmsford.

These works included, replacing the Smoke Seals, installing a Thumb Turn Lock and Correcting the Gaps in the door.

Checking and adjusting smoke seals is important because smoke inhalation poses the biggest threat during a fire and properly fitted seals keep toxic gases out of evacuation routes.

Installing a thumb turn lock allows for a quicker exit in an emergency and correcting the door's gaps creates a compliant barrier that delays the spread of fire, buying vital time before it can reach communal areas and block exit routes.

Our team are highly skilled to ensure you and your residents fire doors are compliant with all UK fire safety regulations and ensure everyone's safety.

Despite legal requirements to train staff, only 1 in 6 employees (16%) reported having a workplace fire drill in the past year, while 47% cannot locate their assembly point.

At Expyro, we believe that compliance shouldn't just be a checkbox.

When a fire occurs, theoretical knowledge often disappears from memory...

To bridge the gap, an effective safety culture should prioritise:

Visual Familiarity: Regularly walking the exit routes, not just looking at a map.

Practical Confidence: Understanding how to handle an extinguisher before an emergency happens.

Defined Roles: Ensuring every team member knows their specific responsibility during an evacuation.

Clear, competent support turns complex legislation into real action plans.
Stay proactive.

Ensure your fire safety training is up to date.

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week.

In our industry which is dedicated to safety, there is one silent risk we often overlook: Mental Health.

Roughly 1 in 3 (34%) tradespeople have recently noticed a colleague struggling with their mental health or workload.

However, encouragingly, 85% of tradespeople feel comfortable checking in with a co-worker.

This week, we are raising awareness alongside our clients and those within our team to ensure everyone has people to talk to if they need it.

If you require immediate support, Samaritans are available to talk 24/7: Call 116 123
