Great news for employers carrying out DBS checks!

From today, 5th October, the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) has reduced its fees for DBS checks.

Employers can get savings of up to £8.50 per application! For employers using DDC the DBS fee means a lower DBS cost, while DDC's administration fee remains unchanged.

The DBS have confirmed that the fee reduction does not affect the standard of DBS checks.

It’s been a busy month at DDC, and we’re pleased to share that our average turnaround times are meeting or exceeding the national average.

There are 12 police forces experiencing delays, so submitting checks early can help minimise delays and keep your recruitment process moving.

New Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance for 2026.

From 1 September 2026, updated KCSIE guidance from Department for Education will introduce important changes around safer recruitment, regulated activity, volunteers, safeguarding knowledge, and online safety.

⚠️ Important changes to DBS regulated activity are coming into place.

From 1 September 2026, the volunteer supervision exemption will be removed. This means some volunteers working with children may now fall within regulated activity and require an Enhanced DBS check with Children’s Barred List information.

Organisations should review their internal guidance, roles and recruitment processes for both new recruits and existing personnel to ensure they’re prepared.
