Home Office has also put in place ‘transitional provisions’ for fee waiver applications made before the fee increase and the decision has been made after the fee increase. Biometric Residence Permits will be phased out on 31/12/2024. What happens then after that date?

The Home Office will replace BRPs with “eVisas”. Their guidance provides details on how people will need to register and set up an online account so that they can view and share relevant information about their immigration status with third parties such as employers or landlords. Some of you may have already been requested to provide a “share code” by your employer or landlord. This signifies how your immigration status would be proved after December 2024. More guidance will be available in 2024.

28 June 2022
New rules on Humanitarian protection status will apply to claims made on or after 28 June 2022.

It will no longer be at par with refugee status in the UK with changes to be introduced.

Successful claimants after this date will be granted a new form of leave called “Temporary Humanitarian Permission of Stay.” This permission will last for a minimum of two and a half years instead of the current period of 5 years.

They will however still qualify for ‘settlement’ after ten years of lawful residence in the UK.

Dear Liberty,

I would like to say a big 'thank you' for your guidance and support through the naturalisation application. I got my British Citizenship last week and I can't say enough compliments to Mr Sheriff Kaunde who represented me throughout.
Form the first appointment, it was evident that he has deep knowledge and understanding of all regulations and processes. He was so supportive, answered all my questions straightaway without hesitation and made the whole process as easy as it gets.
I would strongly recommend LIS to everyone. Well done guys.

Yours sincerely,
