Messages of Welcome
With far right violence across the UK, including the targeting of hotels housing asylum seekers with attacks and arson, it is more important than ever than we share a message of compassion, solidarity and welcome.

Please click link below for a form to write out a Message of Welcome to someone seeking asylum in the UK.

They will then be hand written and delivered to people who have newly arrived in the UK, including those at hotels targeted by far right violence.

Let's drown out the hate with messages of love.

In order to seek asylum in the UK you actually have to be in the UK. Until there is a safe passage for those needing it then a tragedy such as this is inevitable yet it is unimaginable.

A man caught up in the Windrush scandal who resorted to sleeping in a freezing bin shed has finally been given permission to remain in the UK after a 10-year battle.

Roy Harrison, 44, arrived in the UK as a six-year-old in 1984. He had been abandoned as a newborn baby in Jamaica by his mother and left on his grandmother’s doorstep.

10 years ago today we could not have imagined how amazing this journey was going to be, how many families we would reunite, how many people's safety we would secure, how many wonderful people we would have the privilige of welcoming. We started ILAC because we were angry, we were angry at the lack of help for people that needed it, we were angry that access to justice was not affordable. Today we celebrate that we made it this far and we celebrate all of our wonderful clients that have been on this journey with us. The clients that we have got to know and have become part of the ILAC family. We celebrate you and we look forward to continuing on this journey.

So lovely to see our client be granted her British citizenship today after being subjected to the hostile environment. She is part of the “windrush” and therefore always had the right to be here but had her rights wrongly taken from her due to an ongoing campaign of hostility from the U.K. government.
