It's that time of year when birds, especially Jackdaws, are looking for nice warm places to nest. If you notice an unusual amount of debris, especially twigs in your fireplace you may have the beginnings of a nest. Sometimes you can hear scratching noises within the flue. If you think you may have a birds nest up there then stop using your fire immediately and give us a call. If your flue is blocked with a nest and you light the fire, you could be putting yourself at risk of Carbon monoxide poisoning.
Whilst we cannot interfere with an active birdsnest as it is unlawful, we can arrange a return visit later on in the year when the nest is empty, and safely remove it.

In preparation for a stove installation by Calcaria Stoves Tadcaster we gave the flue a thorough sweep to prepare for the insertion of a flue liner. It would have been a messy job for Calcaria stoves installation team had we not pre swept the flue first.
