Landlords often check a guarantor’s income, credit history and UK residency in the same way they check the tenant’s affordability. Citizens Advice

A guarantor’s liability depends on the guarantee agreement, but it often includes:

Unpaid rent

Damage to the property

Costs linked to the tenancy
Some agreements cover the whole tenancy, including renewals, so it’s important the guarantor reads the terms carefully.
