CONFIRMATION
Probate is a word many people will have heard, but in Scotland the legal term is Confirmation.

Confirmation is issued by the Sheriff Court and gives an executor the authority to deal with someone’s estate after they die. This may include gathering their assets, paying outstanding debts and distributing what remains to the beneficiaries.

When there is a will, the executor is usually someone named within it. This could be a spouse, partner, adult child, trusted relative, close friend or solicitor.

When there is no will, a suitable person can apply to the court to be appointed as an executor.

The wording may be different in Scotland, but the purpose is the same. It ensures the right person has the legal authority to manage the estate and carry out the necessary steps.

Good Luck, Caley! ⚽💚

After several years with W&AS Bruce, it’s time to say goodbye to Caley as she embarks on an exciting new chapter in professional football.

Caley first joined us as a teenager and quickly became a valued member of the team. Whether she was helping organise files for archiving, covering reception, running office errands or lending a hand wherever it was needed, nothing was ever too much trouble. She brought a smile with her every day and became a much-loved colleague across the firm.

Since then, Caley has gone on to play professionally with Hibernian FC and has also earned recognition as part of the Scotland Under-23 set-up - an achievement everyone at W&AS Bruce is incredibly proud of.

As Caley herself said:

“Working here has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. I’ve learned so much and worked alongside some of the best and most caring people. Moving to professional football was a scary challenge, but I was supported by this amazing company and people. I’m sad it is over, but I’m excited for what comes next!”

Everyone at W&AS Bruce would like to thank Caley for everything she has brought to the firm over the years. We wish her every success for the future and look forward to following her journey on and off the pitch.
